happy new year, welcome 2009

i can't believe it is already 2009, i graduated from college in 1999, 10 years ago...what? wow, the time flies. we didn't do much for new year's...i worked till 9pm, we were so slow...afterwards i got some thai take-out for joe and i. the kids were in bed, so joe and i ate our food, drank some champagne and talked about our future trip - italy. we are going not this july but next july. we will be going for 2 weeks, staying in rome and then traveling up north to florence. traveling through the tuscany and san marino. we are so excited. i am a bit nervous about leaving the kids for that long, but i am sure they will have fun with my parents. new years day was uneventful as well...worked again, but again so slow we closed early. i am not sure what is up, but starbucks has been so slow lately, all stores. i had today off, which was much needed. i headed to bellsquare to do a bit of b-day shopping for jade. she has been wanting a jewelry box from potterybarn kids (she saw it in the magazine we get), so i got it for her. it might be a bit too old for her, but she wanted it. i also got her a charm bracelet and her first charm to put on it. so cute! she loves jewelry and all the girly girl stuff. then we all headed to babiesrus to buy cole a booster seat...then onto party city for jade's b-day decorations. of course, everything is disney princess themed. we will be having a family get together next weekend. she can't wait for her cake...that's all she talks about!
cole, my little guy, has been hitting the terrible 2's very early...ugh, i never really experienced them with jade, so this is all so new to me...ahhh..my little sweetheart has turned into a little spitfire lately, no i mean a HUGE spitfire. he is so stubborn, never gives in, and throws whoppers of tantrums. today i was at my wits end while joe was at the dentist....ahhhh! and jade, when does this girl sleep? up at 5am and "isn't sleepy at 9pm (that is what she tells me)"...ahhhh...it's not like she takes these long naps either. i keep telling her that mommy is tired when we get up at 5am...she just doesn't understand why i shouldn't be hungry and ready to play! ahhh....
back to normal schedules on monday...not looking forward to that, joe going back to work...but soon it will be jade's b-day and then valentine's day (not that we really celebrate), but i guess something to look forward too.
