Summer fun...

i have been absent for a multitude of reasons, but the big one is joe's knee surgery on june 18th and it's been a helluva time!! things are going so much better and now we are enjoying the summer. his knee surgery went okay. his defect was a bit bigger then they thought, so had to do a bit more work on it. the first few days were awful for him, but now we are on the road to recovery. thank goodness my mom was here for a few days to help with the kiddos and then sally flew in for a week. the kids had the best time with their grandma sal (that's what they call her). we had trips to the park and lots of art time! sally helped us out so much and we wouldn't have had such a great week without her.

the big news for me, was that i ran the rock and roll 1/2 marathon! it was amazing! i ran all of it but a mile. i had so much fun and felt so good afterwards, i mean mentally, my body hurt like hell! i even lost two toe-nails!HA! anyways, it was one of the best experiences yet. i plan to do it again!

jade had her first summer camp at the YMCA. it was an intro to preschool. first time leaving her for 3 hours. she had a blast. her and evan went together. it was such a neat experience for her. we have her signed up for another one in august. it was so weird dropping her off...she did amazing though! she ran in and said "bye mom"- and no looking back!HA!

we took the kids out to lake sammamish and joe had his first outing. the kids loved the water and sand. i can forsee many more trips! we got some life jackets so i will feel much better with them around the water. they had no fear of the lake, rushed right in!

this past weekend we headed to pullman for a big bbq at the harper's....shawn and kaelee drove in from TX...it's been 2 years (right?) since we have seen them. we had a lot of fun. it was sooo great to see all the families and kiddos play together. my kids were in heaven. cole was in the baby pool for about 4 hours! joe and i had a lot of fun...wished it could have lasted a little longer. joe's knee did great...we stopped at my parents for a pit stop to give it a rest and more swimming for the kids. all in all it was a great time!

So glad Joe is on the mend, and that I found your blog to reconnect. Your kids are adorable! Hopefully, we will see you soon!

It was great to see you guys! Of course it didn't seem like we got to chat enough the day went by so fast! But congrats again on your half marathon completion! It was so great to spend some time with you guys and your adorable kids. Glad you got home safe!
