long, long, night

warning - a bit of complaining will be going on...or maybe just feeling sorry for myself and the kids.
it all started last thursday, right in the midst of this lovely swine flu outbreak, jade gets a fever, cough and very red throat! great! call dr. wu, appt set, off we go. jade is so weak i carry her in...which is not typical of jade, she is very independent. we get there, everyone is gowned up and we are instructed to wear masks - what? wow! dr. wu assesses jade and contemplates whether to test for the swine...i couldn't believe it! she calls the health dept (i guess they are required to) and they said no, cause her fever wasn't 102. thank goodness! the test is very invasive and i really didn't think she had it in the first place (either did dr. wu). poor little girl though, she was swabbed for strep, and thank goodness didn't have it...so basically a bad viral. off to home we went. by saturday the fever was gone, and she was back to herself. cole wasn't showing any signs of this except for a little cough. thank goodness once again! sunday we headed to juanita beach for some fun in the sand. all was better, yahoo...that was until last night! what a night we had...first off, jade wakes up at 11pm, her ear hurts...ahhh...gave her some tylenol, then 116am hits, cole is crying...put him in bed with me, starts coughing like crazy...get him settled back in his crib, 145am jade wakes up again, she comes in bed with me, can't sleep, very antsy. ahhh...cole continues to cough until 4am..i am going back and forth from my room to his, trying everything to get that cough to stop. nothing worked...ahhh...730am kids up, doing better...jade VERY whiny and cole is his usual spunky self...ahhh...will this ever end? i think we are on the road to recovery and then we have a night like last night...and wouldn't you know, i feel like crap today! i was praying at 4am for all this to end, i hope my prayers were answered!
